I hope your week has been great & you're looking forward to the weekend ahead. If you're anything like us you must be because you'll also love spending time on the weekends with side projects & experiments. If you've got some time to spare this weekend – we may have the perfect little one you may be interested in.
So, if you've been keeping up with the development of the RunCloud platform – you'll likely be aware of some recent changes we made in an update that included performance improvements (along with a whole range of other improvements).
At the time, we had a number of discussions internally surrounding how to go about publicly announcing the massive performance improvements. With the engineering team confident that in many cases they were observing over 100% improvement in performance – while we also didn't want to be overconfident so originally more conservatively shared that the result was a 20-50% performance improvement.
All of which were the result of tweaks that we made to our NGINX server stack that at the time of writing only apply to all newly deployed servers. So, today, we're reaching out to see if any of you would be interested in verifying some of these results & sharing the performance improvements that you're observing on your own sites…
Doing so is very simple. Just deploy a new server (with the same server provider you're using for your current site to keep test data as constant/reliable as possible), and then clone your site over to the newly-deployed server.
Follow the above guide if you've never cloned a site noting a few things: This test is for old NGINX vs. newly-deployed NGINX servers only. Leave your web application active/available on your existing server for comparison (so you can run tests on both). Clone the web application (and database) to the newly deployed NGINX server (with the same cloud provider as your original server to avoid introducing additional variance).
Then, follow this simple website load testing guide we've put together to run tests on both the existing server and site as well as the cloned site on a newly-deployed NGINX server with Loader.io. And, once you've done so, hit the link below to share the results you've observed with your web applications & servers including any additional information you'd like to add:

Note: We will be rolling out these server improvements to all existing servers over time shortly so it goes without saying that every single one of you is going to be able to take advantage of the improvements that we've been working on.
